BATHTUB GIN

Behold Bathtub Gin, an invisible-to-the-naked-eye cocktail lounge that’s sealed behind an unassuming coffee shop wall, discreetly and quietly opening tonight.

To find this place, you’ll first need to seek out a nearly microscopic Chelsea coffee shop (it’s the one with the mini bathtub in the window). Don’t let the perfectly frothed cappuccinos and incredibly lifelike (okay, they’re real) pastries fool you. This place is a front. Lurking just beneath the surface: a shadowy gin joint/jazz-playing safe house.
So you’ll come here when your thirst for a Negroni becomes insatiable or your recent dalliances have forced you out on the lam. Once inside, you’ll see a false wall with a red light above it. That’s your door. That’s where you make your scene. When the light’s illuminated, you may enter.

Life on the inside: exactly how you imagined it’d be... circa 1920. There’s a copper-colored ceiling, fringe-covered lamps, nailhead-tucked bar stools and—smack-dab in the center of the room—a glass-covered, claw-foot bathtub.

For now, you’ll use said tub to balance your gimlet and fried oysters, but rent the place for a private party, and they’ll let you take the top off.

Sometimes bathtubs just need to breathe.

THE VAULT AT PFAFF'S

The Vault at Pfaff's, an original posh, 1850's upscale cocktail cellar that's returning to salvage your NOHO-bound date nights, discreetly open right now. Head here for the sort of downtown date nights best kept hidden behind a bouncer-guarded door and beneath several feet of sidewalk. And after you've inconspicuously carved our shadowy place in the basement (preferably onr that includes a velvet brocade sofa), corset-constricted waitresses will appear with egg-white-fluffed drinks and a menu of frenched lamb chops and truffled mac and cheese.

MISTER H AT THE MONDRIAN SOHO

This 30's style Shanghai speakeasy run by the crew of Bungalow 8 is not a brothel. It just looks like one.

According to Urban Daddy "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, this would be the one Bogart would've gone to for his midnight gimlet. A red-light district/opium den with walls of distressed damask, floors of checkered jade and gold, taxidermied birds and (despite what the expertly staffed stripper pole would imply) a bright-red neon sign reminding patrons that this is not a brothel.

Order a scorpion bowl (that most ancient of Chinese secrets), head through a curtain of chains and enter into a back room with crimson velour beds, antique mirrors and a red phone perched at each bedside. The phones connect randomly to other beds, so should you find yourself making eyes with raven-haired hellcat from across the room, just pick up your receiver and hope it's her."

DEATH & CO.

DEATH & CO.

Named after the Prohibition-era art movement, Death & Co. is an exquisite modern-day speakeasy fused with itimate, new-age elegance. With some of the city's most respected bartenders, Death & Co. is renowned for its superb cocktails, fine wines and collection of rare, aged spirits. Brilliant concoctions are stirred up to 40 to 50 times and taste-tested to ensure ultimate perfection.

Tucked away behind grand scorched wood doors that block all sound between the New York city streets and the intimate quarters they enclose, there is little hint of the grandeur that lay inside. Upon entering, you’re swept into a world of old-age class, with a lowly lit, dark wooden décor, and granite tabletops catching the light of crystal chandeliers. Share Manhattan’s finest cocktails with a group of your closest friends in an exquisite lower east side gem.

Merchants NY Cigar Bar may have a hint of a Gentlemen's club but I can make myself comfortable just about anywhere. A glass of Johnny Walker Blue and a Cohiba makes me forget everything that doesn't make me happy.

You'll enjoy the rich carpet and plush furniture. A working fireplace lit throughout the year compliments the rich marble top bar. To enhance the experience there's a menu selection that includes Smoked Salmon Puffs and Gourmet Burgers.

Rooftop Lounge In The Winter

Press Lounge in Ink48 Hotel has covered their 3,000 foot rooftop space with a giant heated tent. The 360 degree panoramic view is still there without you getting frost bite. I would suggest going and enjoying the view especially with all the fresh snow, I know it's beautiful. The inside isn't too shabby either so if your paying hit your girl up.
