GOOGLE ACQUIRES ZAGAT

According to Nina and Tim Zagat’s blog, Zagat — the popular restaurant guide that has been around for more than 32 years– has been acquired by Google. As Google continues to focus on local search results and services, the move is a brilliant one, as Zagat has a rich database of local reviews and ratings.

“This may be the most important announcement in our 32 years of business: We have been acquired by another great company, Google. Nina and I will continue to be active in the business as co-Chairs; however, the merger of our resources, expertise and platforms with those of Google will give us the opportunity to greatly expand. We have spent enough time with Google senior management to know that they fully share our belief in user-generated content, and our commitment to accuracy and fairness in providing consumers with the information necessary to make smart decisions about where to eat, travel and shop.” state Nina and Tim Zagat

“Moving forward, Zagat will be a cornerstone of our local offering–delighting people with their impressive array of reviews, ratings and insights, while enabling people everywhere to find extraordinary (and ordinary) experiences around the corner and around the world,” Marissa Mayer, vice president of local, maps and location services, said on the Official Goggle blog post.

FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL TAKING OVER SOUTH STREET SEAPORT

Four years ago NYC's very first food truck festival stole the hearts of New Yorkers with the simple idea of spending an afternoon grabbing a bite from the best of our cities food trucks, listening to some great music, and reconnecting with your city. Always ahead of the curve, MeanRed brings you this annual event that celebrates a slice of your hometown life in New York. Since then PARKED! has grown in five to this years to 30 trucks making a home in beautiful outdoor venues such as BKLYN Yard, Governor's Island, and now... South Street Seaport!

On Saturday, August 20th, the trend setting truck festival returns to Manhattan at the waterfront open venue South Street Seaport. On top of our 30+ food trucks we'll have a beer garden, a mainstage with incredible bands and DJs, face painting, Foodie diversions and a playground on site for kids, and you can even buy a PARKED! pass which gives you reduced price food at the trucks and one free drink!

That's not all, They've worked with our trucks to pick the best of the best from their menus, and all trucks will be offering items at a five dollar and eight dollar price point along with their regular menu, so everyone can swing by and affordably purchase a quick bite.

Happy happy joy joy, I can't wait for this!

JAY Z FUNDS BROOKLYN WING JOINT

Jay Z has secretly invested in a downtown Brooklyn wing joint called Buffalo Boss that is co-owned by his cousin Jamar White. They're serving up organic chicken and fried twinkies. You already know my greedy ass will be down there for a taste. The fact that there are jalapeno poppers being sold is the main reason I'm heading down. I'll let you know what I think about it. 554 Fulton Street (btwn Flatbush Ave. & Rockwell Pl.)
