KARL LAGERFELD IS TAKING HIS TALENTS TO MACYS

It’s the moment we’ve all be waiting for: Photos of Karl Lagerfeld‘s collection for Macy’s Impulse are here, and now we know what every woman in America will be wearing this fall.

Macy’s unveiled the collection at a press preview Wednesday night and has since released images of the dresses, coats and tank tops and other little bits of fashion Lagerfeld designed for the retailer. The collection imposes Lagerfeld’s personal style on a number of classic pieces — there’s no shortage of dresses, certainly, as many come in different color ways. Lagerfeld’s black-and-white pieces with high, dramatic collars look like what we imagine would be produced if Chanel ever designed a juniors collection, and a scarf featuring one of his illustrations feels almost like a personal connection to the designer. He also seems to have made his signature fingerless gloves available, along with fun leather-like pants and shorts. But its the long- and short-sleeved t-shirts and tank top featuring drawings of Lagerfeld’s face that we predict will be best-sellers (even if he’s wearing his sunglasses in them).

Pieces of the collection will retail between $50 and $170, and will be available in over 230 Macy’s stores and on macys.com starting Aug. 31. Until then, check out a few photos from the preview and the look book, after the cut.
MISSONI FOR TARGET IS APPROACHING

The collaboration between Missoni and Target is almost here, available at Target September 13 to October 22. The 400 plus collection will include everything from bedsheets to dinnerware. The prices will range from $7.99 to $199.99. This is happening just in time for school shopping and during NYFW.

DESIGNER MANICURES

When I was younger working in the music business I had the most amazing nails EVERY week. As I grew and moved into the boring corporate world I became content with a natural name, a clear top coat and that's it. Now...I that I have ventured on my own and doing life in living color these nails excite me! Ok so they're not that bold in the color department but hey they are hot! See more after the break.

LOUIS VUITTON HAS HONEY!

Photo: Courtesy of Louis Vuitton/Pursuitist
Last year, the fashion house installed beehives on the rooftop of their headquarters in Paris, and they've just harvested their first batch of honey. The jars have been packaged up and will be sent to select "friends and family of the house" to dab on their scones and toast points.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN $1,000 ECO-TRASH PUMPS

We’ve had designer footballs, designer towels, and (faux) designer pedicabs, and now we have designer trash. This isn’t just any trash, though. It’s Christian Louboutin trash. As part of a tongue-in-cheek “eco-friendly” offering, the designer took the idea of recycling one step further by incorporating discarded tidbits into his footwear.

In an impressive mix of high-low (Kate Moss would approve), the shoe couturier combined the PVC-glossed garbage with leopard print fabric and actual snakeskin. According to Neiman Marcus’s blog, the collage includes “pieces of thread, postage stamps, scribbled notes, leftover sequins, and fabric swatches from seasons past.” So it’s not technically trash trash, but it’s still not the kind of thing we’d expect to come atop our red soles.

But if you’re expecting a deal for second-time-around scraps, the aptly named Eco-Trash peep-toe pump still wields a hefty price tag of $1,095. Since they’re composed from one-of-a-kind material, no two pairs (or even shoes) are or ever will be alike.

They’re certainly avant-garde and original, but we’re wondering whether they’re worth shelling out over a grand. While we applaud the eco-friendly concept, isn’t it somewhat defeated by his use of snakeskin? And only a minuscule amount of “trash” is being recycled with each pair you buy, considering that it composes less than half of the material used to make the shoe.

What do you think? Would you buy them? (If you could, of course.)
