HERMES UNVEILS CUSTOMIZABLE SCARVES

Draped across the necks of royalty and celebrities since the 1930s, the Hermes scarf is a style icon its own right.

Now there's a way to make the luxurious staple all your own: A newly installed Custom Silk Corner at the brand's freshly renovated Madison Avenue shop in Manhattan offers one-of-a-kind scarves tailored to your specifications.

First, pick one of four iconic designs: the cheery 90-cm silk twill scarf, the vintage 70-cm silk scarf, the Gavroche pocket square or the Twilly silk ribbon. Next, choose a pattern: We love the pink paisley L'ivresse de L' infini ($385), the Les Voitures Nouvelles ($305), with antique vehicles printed on trademark Hermes orange and the Chinese New Year-inspired L'annee du Dragon pocket square ($165).

Block or script letters are $15 apiece, and anything from initials to a special date or a personal message can be hand-embridered.

Customized scarves take about a month to complete. (Simply call the store to get your creation under way.) with designs, 54 color combinations and 30 colors of yarn, the possibilities are endless. One thing's for certain, though: There's never been a more classic way to make your mark.
